Call for Participants: Exploring Colour Blindness and Clothing Choices
Are you colour blind or know someone who is? Fashion academic Kristen Pickering, based at the Northumbria University School of Design, Arts and Creative Industries, is conducting a research study exploring how individuals with Colour Vision Deficiency (CVD) experience coloured clothing in everyday life. This includes how colour-blind individuals choose clothing, shop online, and interact with colour in personal style.
CVD—commonly referred to as colour blindness—affects approximately 1 in 12 men and 1 in 200 women, most often impacting the ability to distinguish between red, green, and blue hues. Kristen is gathering insights through a short, anonymous, multiple-choice questionnaire designed to understand these lived experiences more deeply.
If you are over 18 and have CVD, your participation would be incredibly valuable. If you don’t have CVD but know someone who does—friends, family, or students—please share this invitation with them.
The questionnaire can be accessed via the QR code below and is compatible with all digital devices. Help shape future conversations about accessibility and colour in fashion and design by taking part in this important study.
