The CCUK hosts events throughout the year, which are open to the public and focus on a range of topics within the world of colour. Based in the North East, we deliver a variety of talks and workshops throughout the city, available to all interested and who wish to share their perspective.

Workshop: Unpacking Aesthetics, Gender, and Power in Design Objects
Date & Time: Wednesday, Apr 29 from 1 pm to 5 pm
Location: CCE1-016 (Classroom), Northumbria University Business School
This half-day workshop invites colour lovers to critically examine how colour, aesthetic dimensions (such as line, scale, surface, proportion, and ornamentation), and materiality intersect with societal norms to shape the design and perception of everyday objects. Grounded in frameworks like GenderLAB and Norm-Critical Design, the session explores how dominant narratives around gender and identity are reinforced through colour application and visual language in product design. Thank you to Northumbria University and GF Smith for sponsoring and contributing to the event.
